South Dakota U.S. Senator Mike Rounds has requested an investigation into the United States Postal Service and reported delivery problems in South Dakota. In a letter sent by Senator Rounds to USPS Inspector General Tammy Hull, Rounds asked the USPS to investigate the root cause of mail problems and the potential need for a regional process facility.
“In recent months, I have heard from hundreds of constituents across South Dakota voicing substantial issues with USPS service in my state,” said Rounds.
“I believe these issues are caused by the flawed design of the USPS network, which all but guarantees that mail traveling across or to South Dakota must travel in a circuitous manner through locations around and outside of the state.”
Rounds says in the letter he has heard from dozens of constituents across South Dakota in recent months, voicing substantial issues with USPS Service. This is not the first time Rounds has requested action from the USPS, as he met with Postmaster General David Steiner in October urging the improvement of mail services.
