Watertown woman identified in Spink county fatal accident

A Watertown, S.D. woman has been identified as the person who died Saturday evening in a one-vehicle crash north of Redfield, S.D.

Preliminary crash information indicates that a 2023 Toyota Camry was traveling south on U.S. Highway 281 near mile marker 154 when the vehicle crossed two lanes, entered the east ditch, hit a field approach, went airborne, hit a tree, and then landed.

Jessica Jones, the 27-year-old female driver, was pronounced dead at the scene. She was wearing a seat belt.

Colin Digby, the 28-year-old male passenger, was transported to the hospital with serious non-life-threatening injuries. He was wearing a seat belt. Charges are pending against the passenger.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.

The Highway Patrol is an agency of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
