Detroit man to serve jail time in South Dakota for improper disposal of a body

A Detroit man accused of improperly disposing of remains of a deceased woman at a Mitchell truck stop has pleaded guilty and will serve time in South Dakota. 60-year-old Anthony Harris plead guilty Improper Disposal of a body and has been sentenced to 360 days in the Davison county jail. 57-year-old Meldoy Fae Gooch’s body was found at the Mitchell truck stop on March 11^th 2024. Originally Harris faced 2^nd degree murder charges in this case, but those charges were dropped upon further investigation as it was determined Gooch died from an apparent drug overdose.
